NEW SELECTION PROCESS for 2026!
In order to ensure a quality experience for all groups, we have decided to cap the competing groups at 20. Those not selected in the TOP 20 will receive a deliberation performance of one song on either Friday or Saturday evening's performance in lieu of a headliner. They will receive comments from trusted music educators while the competition judges deliberate.
All competition group submissions will be adjudicated by a panel of judges outside of the Acatex staff and will be judged using the video submission rubric. LINK
Performance order will still be drawn at random prior to the show.
If your group chooses to do a deliberation performance OR is not in the top 20 chosen for Friday Prelims, please reach out to one of the producers if you have a conflict on either night and we will do our best to accommodate.
What is Acatex?
Acatex is a competitive vocal festival returning to the DFW Metroplex on Dec 4 & 5, 2026.
Acatex provides scholastic a cappella ensembles the opportunity to:
Receive professional stage experience while competing to win numerous awards
Work with seasoned clinicians in masterclasses and workshops
Network with other students, groups, and industry professionals.
