Hello math students!
Be sure to come prepared to class. Here is a list of school supplies you will be using this year.
Math fluency is very important, especially by the time you get to fifth grade. You need to be able to recall your math facts quickly since we will be working with fractions this year. If you are still struggling with your math facts, it is imperative that you practice with an adult every night until you are fluent.
Please keep an eye on the daily calendar for whole group math assignments, like review packets, review assessments, and/or other math activities for all math students. As far as your math groups, make sure that you copy down in your agenda what your homework is for your specific group. Although you could always email someone in your group, as well as email me, people are not constantly checking their emails throughout the evening. It would be a good idea to have phone numbers of those students in case you need to reach out to them.
Finally, as I mentioned in the Classroom Expectations page, be sure to review the concepts you have learned in class. Whether it's iReady weekly My Path/lessons, using other sites online, reviewing past assignments, or studying with an adult, you want to keep up with your work. You will always be assessed on a lesson quiz after completing the last session in that lesson and working on the review assignments in class, and you will have a unit assessment after completing all the lesson review at the end of the chapter. And if you do not understand something, please see me.
See you in class!
