COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will learn the fundamentals of news and video broadcasting by taking part in telling the stories of Rocklin High School.

In this class, students will learn all of the different aspects of the news media, with a central focus on video production, broadcast journalism, and media literacy. They will also learn the various phases of television production and gain hands-on experience with professional equipment and mobile technology. Students will learn the process of script writing, storytelling, editing and how to capture the images that tell a story viewers will remember.

This class requires an extremely high level of responsibility. Students will be using expensive, delicate equipment therefore it is imperative that they respect the equipment, their work spaces and their fellow students.

The students in this class will be responsible for two components of our announcements.

Monday - Thursday will be a video recording reading of the Daily Bulletin by our team

Fridays will be the "We Are Rocklin" show. This crew is responsible for putting together a weekly show that includes school and local news, entertainment, campus news, sports, weather and school interviews featuring the people of Rocklin High School. We will be broadcasting school wide during on Friday mornings.
