My name is Maria Leccese and I am thrilled to be beginning my 12th year of teaching! (8th year here at Midland School) I began my journey at Midland as the Preschool Integrated Teacher in 2012. I am honored to be a part of this fantastic group of educators and am looking forward to another fun-filled school year!

I absolutely love to sing, dance and act. While I miss performing in community theater, I stay active with the arts. I sing in my church choir, participate in dance classes when I can and love to attend Broadway shows. We are a poodle loving family in my home. I have 2 wonderful dogs Abigail & Ashley.

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Special Education as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ. I received a Master's Degree in Education with certifications as a Supervisor & Principal in May, 2014 from Felician College now Felician University!

Over the course of my career I have taught preschool, 4th grade, 3rd & 4th grade math and a variety of special education classes ranging from 3rd to 8th grade both in public and private school settings. This is my second year in 5th grade here at Midland and I am beyond thrilled to bring my love of math to another eager group of students! I know that there tends to be a lot of nervousness and uneasy feelings associated with math but I am looking forward to showing the students that they can conquer any math topic that they put their mind to with hard work & of course a healthy dose of FUN! I am excited to begin working with your child and am looking forward to the many wonderful memories that we will make together!! If you need anything please do not hesitate to contact me via DOJO.

As we enter into the 2019-2020 school year, I want you to know that I am going to do my very best to provide your child with a high quality education and the support they need to be successful in the classroom!!

My wish for all of my students is to embrace the idea of WITH + MATH = I CAN!! We are going to pledge to stop saying "I'm not good at math." When we work hard to grow our understanding, attitude, and outlook we can accomplish ANYTHING!!

Let's have an AMAZING school year!! :)
