Jo Miller is a master's student at Massey University studying health psychology and is undertaking this research for her thesis. She is a Scottish born, Pākehā New Zealander, who is post-menopausal. She takes hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and is on the cusp of osteoporosis and suffers some arthritis pain in her hands and knees. She cares about women's rights and health. Her previous research has explored victim blaming in New Zealand, and as part of her studies in health psychology, she did a placement with Arthritis New Zealand | Mateponapona Aotearoa. This is a passion project for her, and she is very excited - if a little nervous - to create the opportunity for women to talk about their experiences of managing arthritis and the transition to menopause.
This research project is supervised by Professor Sarah Riley, who is an experienced researcher in the field of health psychology with a particular interest in women's experiences of their bodies.
