Returning college laptops and dongles
We are now asking that all learners return any IT equipment and library resources they have borrowed from college.
We hope that this equipment has helped with your learning this year. By returning your IT equipment, you will be helping learners access learning in 2022/23.
Please refer to the following guidance about the returns process.
All learners will need to return their IT equipment.
Please return this equipment when you have finished your course. At the latest, please return this by Friday 1st July 2022.
Please return any IT equipment you have borrowed from college. This may include:
Laptops
Laptop chargers
Dongles
Accessories (e.g. mice, headsets, keyboards)
Cases and bags
Don’t forget that some laptop chargers come in two parts - please remember to bring both parts!
Please also return any library books you may have borrowed this year.
Please make sure that you have:
Copied or saved any files you need onto another device;
Removed anything which belongs to you (e.g. USB pens, CDs/DVDs, headsets, pens, paper, glasses, ear-phones, phone chargers).
When you return your items please follow these steps:
Scan or present your college ID badge
Take the laptop/dongle out of the bag/case
Show or read out the number on the white sticker
Place the laptop/dongle back in its bag/case
Please report to your campus library or the IT Helpdesk. Libraries are located as follows:
Rotherham - Clifton Library (Clifton Building)
University Centre Rotherham - UCR Building (1st floor)
Dearne Valley - B-Block
North Notts - A-Block (near the Bistro)
The IT Helpdesk at Rotherham is located in the lower part of the Wentworth Building (just down the stairs from the main reception).
No. We are asking that learners return items to their libraries/IT Helpdesk. If the libraries/Helpdesk areas are closed, then you can return laptops/dongles to reception as a last resort.
No. Equipment must not be returned to subject departments or left with individual staff. It is your responsibility to return the laptop/dongle directly to the library/IT Helpdesk.
You can return this equipment to any of our main campuses (Rotherham, Dearne Valley and North Notts). You do not have to return this to the campus you are usually taught at. You can return to any campus which is most convenient for you.
No appointment is necessary.
Ideally, we ask that learners return their own items. This is to ensure you receive evidence of your returned item(s).
However, if you have a good reason for not being able to return the item, another person can return on your behalf (e.g. a friend/family member). We will issue a receipt to them.
Please phone us to discuss the best options. In some circumstances, we will be able to organise a collection service.
Yes. We will issue a receipt to confirm you have returned the equipment. This may be a digital receipt or a paper copy. Please keep the receipt as evidence that you have returned the equipment.
If you do not return the equipment by Friday 1st July 2022, we will invoice and charge you for the value of equipment you do not return.
When you borrowed the equipment, you will have completed a form agreeing to return this. Another learner may need this laptop next year at college, so please help them by returning your equipment.
