What is Math Intervention?

Throughout the year, as classroom teachers look at the progress their students are making, they will find some students who will benefit from support in addition to what they receive during math class. Students need this support for a variety of reasons. Some may need more practice on a particular skill and some may not have been ready to master a math concept at the time it was taught. Occasionally, students just need the individual attention a small group can provide in order to reach a point of mastery.

Working with the math interventionist provides this additional support, practice and opportunity to learn targeted skills in a small group setting. Receiving this support enables students to be successful during whole class math instruction.
