Guide Application

What is the guide application?

Partners that pass Gateway 1 in the eligibility screener are invited to complete the guide application, which is used to verify a partner's services for Gateway 2 and Gateway 3. PL providers are encouraged to use the application workbook to draft their responses to the questions in the guide application.

If partners pass Gateway 3, they are approved for the PLPG and will be invited to submit provider profile information for the online guide.

What questions are asked?

Evaluative questions

  1. For every phase that your organization supports - adoption, launch, ongoing PL for teachers, and ongoing PL for leaders - you will be asked for provide the following:

    • Submit a small sample of client-facing materials that demonstrates how your PL meets the indicator; may include sample presentations with facilitator guide/notes, handouts, guidebooks, course syllabi, client work plans, client reflection questions, coaching notes, etc.

    • Using the executive summary template provided, identify specific evidence within your artifacts and describe how it demonstrates your organization’s PL meets the indicator.

    • Formatting notes: Submit one PDF per phase (maximum 200 pages) that provides evidence for all indicators for this phase. Save each PDF with the following naming convention: PLprovider_phase_HQIM_publisher (e.g., BestPLOrg_adoption_EL_LearnZillion)

  2. How does your organization measure the effectiveness of coaching/facilitators who provide HQIM-specific PL for your organization?

  3. Using this template, answer the following questions for each of Guskey’s evaluation levels your organization uses to measure the effectiveness of your professional learning services. Please use specific data from one client you have supported (rather than a mix of data from multiple clients).

    • How does your organization measure the effectiveness of its PL services within this Guskey level?

    • What results have you achieved with a particular client at this Guskey level?

  4. Provide a specific example of how your organization used data about coach/facilitator effectiveness to provide additional training/coaching/support to one or more individuals.

  5. Using this template, describe how your organization has used effectiveness data for each level of Guskey that you measure to improve your professional learning services. Please use specific data from one client you have supported (rather than providing a mix of data from multiple clients).
