The essay must follow the IB guidelines for ethical and safety considerations for experiments
Even for interdisciplinary research areas, like biochemistry, the focus of the essay needs to be on the biology content
It is recommended that students follow a research approach that allows them to gather primary data (through experiments, observations, etc.)
The essay needs to include theoretical framework, it's not just a lab report
