RUSD History Day was held January 31, 2026 at Cal Baptist University. The program (above left) includes the list of projects created for the event. The slides (above right) highlight the winners. Three winners (marked with blue in the slides) will move on to the Riverside County History Day contest on March 14, 2026.
To coincide with the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, NHD’s 2026 theme is Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History. The distinctions among revolutions, reactions, and reforms are sometimes blurred. Revolutions and reforms are often reactions to ideas, actions, or events. In turn, revolutions and reforms inspire reactions. Think of it as a domino effect—knock one down, which knocks the next one down, which knocks . . .
Consider the way REVOLUTION, REACTION, & REFORM are connected.
All three areas of the theme are not necessary to complete a project.
Let the topic guide students: if all three are present, they should all be included -- help them out!
Sometimes there is no clean line distinguishing the three:
Revolutions and reforms are often reactions to ideas, actions, or events
Revolutions and reforms inspire reactions
