CORE VIRTUE OF THE MONTH - SEPTEMBER
Respect and Responsibility
Our task is to build an ethos of mutual respect and responsibility conducive to group effort. This first back-to-school month is also a time for strengthening friendships, our ultimate bonds of respect and responsibility.
We find that regardless of the number of years in our character education program, and regardless of how basic (or rare) we adults may consider these virtues, respect and responsibility cannot be over-emphasized in the grade school years. These traits (that reinforce justice) are necessary to every social realm we occupy—family, friends, classroom, professional and civic life.
