Intro to Engineering - 2022-2023

Launcher Build

Aug 12, 2022: A very fun introductory to the PLTW courses as a whole. This project involved fastening a plastic spoon to popsicle sticks to create a launcher.

Sketching Design

This particular project helped me grasp unbeknownst to me at the time the engineering design process at a very elementary level. I had to work on my effective communication with others and in my sketch, creatively design with various constraints such as using basic materials like plastic spoons and popsicle sticks, create a prototype, and iterate.

Puzzle Cube Build

Oct 21, 2022: This project was my introduction to CAD software. I loved making this because it made me exercise my spatial awareness when creating a technical model to make each component fit, much like when assembling Legoes.

Multi-View Sketch

A more formal version of engineering sketching and design

In this project, I achieved growth in the emphasis in detail and precision in technical drawings. I learned how to create 3D models in CAD software, create animations to visualize the functionality of the interlocking puzzle, and enhanced my problem solving skills in a puzzle that requires logical thinking.

Train Build

Mar 16, 2023: The train and its several attachments is my favorite thing I had 3D modeled in PLTW that year as I believe I am quite passionate in civil engineering and this project provided practical experience in engineering, closely mimicking the real world.

Extra Coal Car

Creating a unique car with complex features encouraged my creative thinking.

Track

Designing the track to align perfectly required more complex geometry

Train Body

This train body is part of the assembly of all the train parts and reflects how much detail is in each component

This final project in Intro to Engineering required profiency in CAD and a deeper understanding of it. Growth especially involved assembling multiple components, each with complex features.
