Photo Categories

We will be accepting photo submissions in the following categories

Portraits: Capture the personality, expression, and mood of a person or group in either a posed or candid setting.
Sports: Freeze or blur the action and intensity of athletic competition, highlighting movement, emotion, and the decisive moment.
Nature/Landscapes: Showcase the beauty of the outdoors, from vast natural vistas and environmental scenes to dramatic urban skylines.
Animals/Wildlife: Focus on the behavior, beauty, and character of living creatures, whether they are beloved pets or wildlife in their natural habitat.
Design & Form: Automotive, Architecture, & More - Highlight the design, structure, geometry, and aesthetic details of cars, buildings, bridges, and other man-made items.
Macro/Close-Up: Explore the world of the small by magnifying intricate details and textures that are often overlooked by the naked eye.
Photoshop: Photos that have been manipulated using Photoshop (Not A.I.). Show off your Photoshop skills. Using apps that do the work for you is not allowed. Your original Photoshop file may be requested.
Smartphone Photography: Show off your creativity using only a mobile device, demonstrating that great imagery can be captured with the camera in your pocket

The deadline for entries will be February 19, 2027
Students can enter 1 photo per category with no more than 3 photos total.
Must have been created during the current school year.
Entries must be original photographs captured by the contestant using a digital (DSLR or Mirrorless) camera.
Cell phone photos are not allowed, except for the cell phone category.
The use of any tool or software to generate images using artificial intelligence is strictly prohibited.
Permissible adjustments are limited to standard or basic photo editing techniques. These include:
- Cropping
- Exposure and contrast adjustment
- Color balance and white balance correction
- Sharpening
- Conversion to black and white
Substantial digital manipulation (such as composite imagery, focus stacking, HDR merging, or generative fill features) is not permitted (unless otherwise noted). All images should accurately represent the scene as it was originally captured through the camera's lens, within the bounds of the basic adjustments listed above (unless otherwise noted).
Photos should be school-appropriate.

Buses should arrive at Ramona High School anywhere between 8:45 am - 9:30 am.
Students can visit the Photo Exhibition and/or be seated starting at 8:45 am. The event starts at 9:30 am
There will be 2 workshop sessions for photographers
There will be a guest speaker & award ceremony session for photographers during the 3rd workshop. The photography portion of the event will be over at Noon.
Bus Pickup
- If you are only staying for the photography portion, your bus should be ready to depart back to your school at 12:00 pm.
- If you plan to stay for the film screenings and awards, buses should be ready to depart back to your school at 2:15 pm.
- If you plan to stay for the Weekend Challenge screenings, buses should be ready to depart back to your school at 3:00 pm.
