The contest is open to Southern California high schools in Riverside, San Bernardino & Orange Counties.
In order for students to enter videos or photos in the contest, their teachers must first register their school to participate in the event.

Film & photo submissions will be accepted starting January 15, 2027, through Friday, February 19, 2027, using the Film Freeway.

Weekend Challenge
This festival is held during school hours and is not open to the public. Only registered school groups will be allowed onto campus on the day of the event.
Short film created in 80 hours by your high school film program.
Buses should arrive at Ramona High School anywhere between 8:45 am - 9:30 am.
Students can visit the Photo Exhibition and/or be seated starting at 8:45 am. The event starts at 9:30 am
Schools can plan to supply their own lunches (12:45-1:30 pm).
There will be food available for purchase:
Food truck serving lunch - in previous years we've had a taco truck seling 3 tacos, beans/rice and a agua fresca for $14. Details of this year will be emailed out to participants prior to the event.
Chips/Snack & Drink sales - $2
Bus Pickup
If you are not staying for the Weekend Challenge screenings, buses should be ready to depart back to your school at 2:15 pm.
If you are staying for the Weekend Challenge screenings, buses should be ready to depart back to your school at 3:00 pm.

There will be 2 workshop sessions for photographers
There will be a guest speaker & award ceremony session for photographers during the 3rd workshop. The photography portion of the event will be over at Noon.

If you are only staying for the photography portion, your bus should be ready to depart back to your school at 12:00 pm.
If you plan to stay for the film screenings and awards, buses should be ready to depart back to your school at 2:15 pm.
If you plan to stay for the Weekend Challenge screenings, buses should be ready to depart back to your school at 3:00 pm.
