To keep things simple for judging, the High School Film & Photo Festival uses FilmFreeway for all submissions. It is the industry standard for film festivals worldwide. Follow this quick guide to get your work entered in minutes.
Think of FilmFreeway as a "Universal Application" for film festivals. You create a project profile once, and then you can submit that profile to thousands of festivals around the world—including ours—without having to re-upload your video every time. It is free for filmmakers to use.
Before you can enter the festival, you need to tell FilmFreeway about your film or photo.
Sign Up: Create a free account at FilmFreeway.com.
Add a Project: Go to 'My Projects' and click 'Add New Project.'
Fill Only the Essentials: FilmFreeway asks for a lot of information, but you only need to fill out the sections listed below:
Project Type: Select "Film/Video" or "Photograpy
Project Title: The name of your film (or photo)
Director: Your name!
Specifications: You must include the "Run Time" (how long the film is).
Date: The date you made it
Student Project: You must put "Yes" to Student Project
School: You must list your school (If your school is not listed, you must have your teacher contact Mr. Nottingham).
Upload Your Film: In the "Video" or "Photo" section, you can upload film file directly to FilmFreeway.
Note: In the privacy section, your project will need to be downloadable in order for us to screen your film at the festival.
Once your project is saved, you are ready to submit to us!
Go to Our Page: Visit filmfreeway.com/highschoolfilmfest.
Select Your Category: Scroll down to the "Categories" section. Choose the category that best fits your film (e.g., Short Film, PSA, Documentary, etc).
Add to Cart & Checkout: Click the "Place Order" button next to your category.
Finalize: Follow the checkout prompts. Once you hit "Complete Order," your film is officially in the running!
Do I have to fill out the "Poster" or "Bio" sections? No. While those are nice to have, they are not required for our judges to screen your film.
Is my film too long? Check our specific category rules on the submission page to ensure your film meets our runtime requirements.
Can I submit more than one film? Absolutely! You can submit one per category up to a total of 3 categories. You will just need to create a separate "Project" for each film you want to enter.
