If today’s students’ want to compete in this global society, they must also be proficient: collaborators • communicators • creators • critical thinkers

The Essential Question: How will you take what you learned and apply Google Apps to fulfill the 4C's? Or have your student's fulfill the 4C's? I will be using this GOOGLE SITE and my GOOGLE CLASSROOM for the COMMUNICATION aspect. I will be sharing my thoughts, asking and answering questions during our PD session and watching you come up with new solutions to lesson planning with GAFE-Google Apps for Education.

DAY 1 LET'S GET GOOGLEY AGENDA

Google Drawings Assignment

Google Drawings for Creativity

LET'S GET STARTED!

Sign into Google Chrome → Google's free web browser. Built to work beautifully with other Google products. Sign into your Chrome account and sync your bookmarks, extensions, and apps all in one central location. Sign in anywhere, on any device, and all your info is there.

Add Google Classroom to your APPS → If you have access to Google Classroom, this is a perfect place to start. Classroom is a great place to organize your digital classroom and create an online community right in your own class.

Google Drive → This is where the "magic" happens. Drive is where all your files can find a home. Do you remember having 4 drawer filing cabinets? Drive is kind of like that ... except it's UNLIMITED drawers!

RECAP OF WHAT YOU LEARNED EDCAMP: DAY 1

  • You were introduced to signing into Chrome Web browser and understanding that Google Drive houses EVERYTHING you create!
  • You were introduced to Mrs. Cardia's Google course website:Mrs. Cardia's Let's Get Googley Website of Tech Goodies
  • You created and published a Google Site, copy and pasted the LINKS into Mrs. Cardia's Google Classroom
  • You experimented with Google Drawings, you designed something of interest using graphic design skills, and you learned how to EMBED the Google Drawing onto the homepage of your Google Site.
  • You brainstormed ways to implement Google drawings into your curriculum: ie. storyboarding, speech bubbles, comic strips, visual cues, bumper stickers, magazine covers, vocab reinforcement, logos, etc.

Day 2 Let's Get Googley AGENDA

Wizard of Oz Hyperdoc

RECAP OF WHAT YOU LEARNED EDCAMP: DAY 2

I truly enjoyed today's lesson as it was a challenge! We discovered that:

  • a. Google drawings allows us to create an infographic, visual cues, vocab assistance, storyboarding, mind maps, flow charts. post-it notes, logos, etc.
  • b. We can EMBED or UPLOAD a Google drawing which is basically a JPG image into our GOOGLE SITE as a banner or viewable image.
  • c. Google drive houses the Google APP and when we want to edit that app we must go to Google drive to complete an edit. ABBY tell them how it is!!!!
  • d. If that Google doc or form is EMBEDDED or "UPLOADED" (right HEATHER?) our Google Site, it will automatically UPDATE since the edit was made in Google Drive.
  • e. When making a change in Google Sites, click PUBLISH to save any new changes. Don't worry about the embedded Google doc because it will automatically update.
  • f. Privacy settings are VERY important. The minute you complete a Google doc, form, slide or whatever Google app, click SEND or SHARE, click advanced and set to PUBLIC viewing or anyone at RIver Edge gith the link can view.
  • g. Refresh your screen to see the changes.
  • h. We worked on a Google FORM, we understand that a Google form allows us to create questions that are multiple choices, checkboxes, etc. BUT we delved in deep to realize that we can "create SECTIONS" that acts essentially as a CHOOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE story, where students will be forced to pick an answer and answer questions within a "section" desinged by yourself.
  • i. A Google Site allows the teacher to EMBED or UPLOAD a Google drawing, Google doc, Google form, Google slide, or Google URL to ANY page you create. Use the POP-OUT menu to open the document.

RECAP OF WHAT YOU LEARNED EDCAMP: DAY 3

Last recap on today's GOOGLEY agenda. I just want to say with the large number of teachers, all different levels, I enjoyed listening to the professional conversations taking place, you all tried helping each other think of ways to use the concepts we discussed, and helped each other think of engaging lessons that would make for a GOOGLEY lesson worth the effort. It was nice! and yes we need MORE TIME together to play!!! Call me in anytime to coach you through your efforts, that's what I am here for:) Today we reviewed:

  • a. Google Forms-the traditional answer choices, Using higher level Response Validation and Go to page based on answer choose your own adventure concepts, Live form vs. the responses on a spreadsheet. How to view the summary of responses via chart and graphs. Sharing the link to your form.
  • b. TourBuilder for digital storytelling and marking maps! Sharing the LINK to tours.
  • c. Reviewed my Google site for templates to make your own ---Mrs. Cardia's Website
  • d. Absolutely AMAZING RESOURCES AND TECH GOODIE BAG
  • e. Think: How can I used Google apps to assist me as the teacher, How can the students use Google apps to reinforce their learning?
  • f. Please share your artifact description with student sample and how you implemented in the classroom to me in my mailbox asap. Include copy of certificate, and voucher.
