Blog Term Rua (2)

Welcome to Piako Rua 2022!

Cross Country

On Tuesday the 5th of July we had our Junior "Cross Country" at school. This wasn't our usual official cross country, however it was a chance for us to get out and experience what a cross country race is like. Luckily the rain held off! It was amazing to see everyone cheering each other on and trying their best!

Well done to everyone who participated, and also to our top 3 in each year level.

Weeks 7, 8 & 9

Wow what a busy few weeks we have had to end Term 2! We have had school interviews, our Matariki/Science open night, and transition with our new friends that are joining us from Piako Tahi. Check out some pictures of what we have been up to!

Week 6

We have had a wet yet busy week this week. It was support staff week, so we made some cards for the amazing people we have in Piako Rua. Special thanks to Pieta, Mrs Mudge, Rachael (caretaker), and Tracey and Kerry in the office!

Fun Friday was full of excitement. We had our usual opt ins, as well as Piako time - always crowd favourite! Check out some of our gorgeous kiwi art, and our play creations!

Weeks 4&5

Over the last two weeks we have been doing some activities to delve deeper into our Science Inquiry. Our inquiry this term has been guided by the guardian/atua Tāne Mahuta, and being kaitiaki of our forests/bush.

We were able to get outside in between the rain and horrible weather last week to do some observations around our school. We found some amazing things such as fungi, bugs and butterflies!

In class we have been looking at some real bugs with magnifying glasses, making habitats, doing some scientific drawings and other tasks around NZ birds, bugs and plants.

Special Visitors - Bug man and Shark man!

This term for our Inquiry we are focusing on Science. On Thursday we were lucky enough to have some VERY special visitors come and speak to us for our hook. The Bug man and The Shark man from TV came to see us! They spoke to us about why sharks and bugs are important to the world and taught us some things that we can do to help look after them.

We had so much fun listening to both Riley (Shark man) and Ruud (The bug man) and learned lots of new and exciting information!

Welcome back to Term 2
