Term 1

Week 11 Fun!

On Thursday we had a 'Faux Friday' and Opt in's! Mrs B took a group to the outdoor learning space, Mr Pike made origami book marks, and Mrs P did symmetry name monsters. We are all excited for Right Choice Day tomorrow!

We like to move it, move it!

On Fridays the whole Pae Ake team gets together for some singing, dancing and sharing at our team hui.  This week Mrs Mabey pumped up the energy with the dance choices!

Week Seven!

This week has been another great week of learning, we are now humming along. We have had our second week of Science! On Friday we had four different opt in's to choose from - outdoor learning space, density science experiment, scribble art, or ukelele. Next week will be our third science rotation with a new teacher.

Week Five

We have been deep in our learning this week! We start our day with Smart Moves and Maths, then Reading. After morning tea we have Phonics and Writing, and we have Te Ako Ritenga (Inquiry) to end the day.  On Friday we had Opt In's! It was such a beautiful day. Mrs P's group were able to paint outside while Mr Pike did baking, Mrs Bradshaw went into the outdoor learning space and Mrs Mabey did some puffer fish art!

Week Four

Mr Pike took an awesome Te Reo session on Thursday - where we practised how to say how we are feeling, and sang a waiata to help us pronounce our vowels in Māori! On Friday we had some fun opt ins, Mr Pike made cinnamon scrolls, Mrs Mabey took drama games, Mrs B went into the outdoor learning space, and Mrs Pedersen did some butterfly art!

This week was our assembly week! Thanks to everyone who came along.

Extending Our Patterns Knowledge - Learning About Growing and Shrinking Patterns

Since we are all experts on repeating patterns, Ms B challenged us to create some 'growing' patterns of our own.  Can you figure out the rules of each pattern and guess what the next term would look like?

Exploring Patterns in Maths

Ms B challenged us to make our most creative pattern using anything we could find in the classroom.  Look what we came up with all on our own.

Week THREE!

This week we had our first swimming lesson with Kelly Sports! During these lessons we are building water confidence and skills in a fun way.

This week we got stuck in with some core learning in Reading, Writing and Maths! A highlight of the week is our Hui in the hall, where we come together to dance, sing and share.

Thursday was our Duathlon and Community event - such an amazing night! Well done to everyone who particpated, and thanks to everyone who came along to support our school.

Wiki Rua - WEEK TWO!

Another short week, but we have loved getting back into routine.

We have been revisiting our Te Tiriti o Waitangi knowledge, as well as exploring the difference between physical sensations and emotions. We have done some art rotations and created three different pieces, which will be up in our spaces soon if you want to have a look! They are all about us - self portraits (or selfies as the kids have been calling them), wizards, and rainbow striped people!

The pool has been nice and warm for our swims too 🥰

Wiki Tahi - WEEK ONE!

We have had such a wonderful start to 2024. Though it has been a super short week, we have had lots of fun!

On Thursday morning we had a welcome for the new kaiako at Riverdale, Whaea Ebony, Mrs Christall and Moeroa. A huge welcome to the new students we have in Pae Ake too- Ayza, Iris & Isabelle! We are thrilled to have you join us 🤗

After the assembly, we settled back into school with a few activities like sack races and parachute games, and then did a class scavenger hunt to get to know each other.

On Friday we sorted out class jobs, started some Art, and had some explore time within our new class. The dress up's and building workshop were a hit!

Looking forward to next week! 🥰 Don't forget your togs!
