The 5/6 Science Program at Riverdale:

• anchors students' learning experiences in complex and puzzling science phenomena
  
  

•  uses student hypotheses, experiences, and questions as resources in the process of building science ideas
  
  

•  encourages students to use ensembles of scientific practices to develop explanations and models
  
  

• provides opportunities for students to reason, explore, test ideas, and collaborate as they make sense of science phenomena and develop hypotheses
  
  

• reinforces the idea that rigor involves greater focus on fewer concepts and coherence (increasing understanding about the relationships between concepts).
