Students in Health 5 will explore topics related to safety and first aid, illness prevention, nutrition, physical activity, substance abuse prevention, social and emotional health, and basic growth, development and the human reproductive system. Riverdale Health curriculum utilizes the Great Body Shop program resources, and supplements with resources from our adopted social and emotional learning curriculum, Wayfinder.

Health 5 Updates:
In January and February, fifth grade students will be continuing to learn how to respond and stay safe during natural disasters specific to the Pacific Northwest. Students will learn strategies for staying safe in earthquakes, wildfires, and floods, and other possible scenarios. Students will be creating a Slide deck to share with both younger and older students to provide safety and preparation information to help keep others safe as well.
Students in Health 6 will explore topics related to wellness and illness prevention, safety and first aid, nutrition and physical activity, substance abuse prevention, social and emotional health, establishing healthy relationships and preventing violence, and human growth and development and sexual and reproductive health. Riverdale Health curriculum for grade 6 utilizes the Great Body Shop program resources, and supplements with resources from our adopted social and emotional learning curriculum, Wayfinder.

Health 6 Updates:
In February, sixth grade students will be learning about evaluating safe and unsafe situations, administering basic first aid, and in March will explore nutrients, basic nutritional needs, and will analyze influences that affect decision about eating and physical activity.
