Our overnight field studies experience will engage each fifth grader in meaningful hands-on learning activities all around the Mt St Helens area. Students will explore caves, learn about the indigenous cultures that predate European settlers, experience multiple visitor centers, participate in forest hikes, and view volcanic landscape land forms.
Each 5th grade homeroom will participate in a two-day visit to the monument, followed by a grade level "Volcano Summit" back at school on Friday. Click here for a full itinerary of the trip.
Check back here for the student trip packet including permission form, packing lists, and a student version of the itinerary. This will be added before school starts.
Parent volunteers are encouraged to join us on the Mt. St. Helens adventure. Volunteer opportunities include overnight help, hiking chaperones, and general support on Friday's "Volcano Summit." Click here for an overview of volunteer opportunities.
