Following the incredible success of our course last semester, we are proud to return for School Year 26 - 27 of the Junior First Responders Course. Specifically engineered for middle school students, this program transforms vital emergency concepts into engaging, easy-to-learn, and completely non-traumatic one-hour lessons.

Led by Mr. Trevor Allen, a highly qualified medical trainer with multiple years of real-world experience in Search & Air Rescue (SAR) and emergency medical services, this course prepares children to face unexpected situations with calm authority. Our core mission is to replace panic with preparation, helping children build lifelong confidence to protect themselves, their friends, and their loved ones.

Whether an accident happens at home, in public, out in the wilderness, or while away on a family holiday, our students learn exactly how to handle the scene, safely stabilize those in need, and efficiently communicate with professional medical response teams to guide them directly to their location.

Detailed Breakdown of the 13 Core Lessons

Every module in this 13-point curriculum is structured to be digestible, low-stress, and highly interactive, ensuring middle schoolers walk away feeling empowered rather than overwhelmed.

1. The Dispatcher’s Eyes: Effective Calls

What They Learn: How to interact with emergency dispatch services without panic.

Confidence & Communication: Students practice clear verbal communication under pressure. They learn exactly what details to give, how to precisely describe their location, and how to stay on the line to act as the "eyes and ears" of the medical response team until help arrives.

What They Learn: The golden rule of emergency response: never become a casualty yourself.

Confidence & Communication: Children learn to run a fast, logical visual assessment of a room or area before stepping in. This builds situational awareness across environments like homes, streets, or hiking trails, ensuring they only help when it is safe to do so.

What They Learn: The fundamentals of high-quality, continuous chest compressions for cardiac events without the complexity of mouth-to-mouth rescue breaths.

Confidence & Communication: Utilizing simple rhythm tricks, this hands-on lesson strips away the fear of CPR, proving to middle schoolers that their physical strength is entirely sufficient to save a life.

4. AED Orientation: The Robot Doctor

What They Learn: An introductory, non-intimidating look at Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) commonly found in schools and malls.

Confidence & Communication: Demystifies the device by showing them that modern AEDs literally speak and guide the user. Students practice listening to automated voice prompts, building the confidence to fetch and deploy one in public spaces.

5. Conscious Choking: The Pressure Pop

What They Learn: Real-time physical intervention for a choking individual who is awake and conscious.

Confidence & Communication: Through simple mechanics and positioning, kids learn the physics behind abdominal thrusts. This straightforward lesson teaches them to act instantly when a friend or family member chokes at the dinner table.

6. Burn Care: Cool, Don’t Freeze

What They Learn: Immediate first-aid management for thermal, electrical, or chemical burns.

Confidence & Communication: Destroys common, dangerous household myths (like applying butter or ice to a burn). Students learn the easy rules of clean, cool running water, empowering them to manage kitchen or household accidents calmly.

7. Fractures & Splinting: The "Stay Put" Rule

What They Learn: How to recognize broken bones and stabilize limbs using basic, everyday items.

Confidence & Communication: Focusing heavily on the wilderness and sports environments, students learn how to prevent further injury by keeping the limb immobilized while clearly communicating the nature of the injury to incoming medics.

8. Allergic Reactions: The Epi-Hero

What They Learn: Identifying severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) and understanding how auto-injectors work.

Confidence & Communication: Children learn to spot the signs of swelling or breathing distress early. They practice the mechanical steps of assisting a peer with an EpiPen, ensuring they aren't afraid of the device when every second counts.

9. Asthma

What They Learn: How to assist a classmate or relative experiencing an acute asthma flare-up.

Confidence & Communication: Focuses on psychological calming techniques alongside physical medication delivery. Students learn how to help someone pace their breathing while locating and administering a rescue inhaler.

10. Fire Safety

What They Learn: Practical fire prevention habits (avoiding overloaded electrical outlets, managing appliances) and escape tactics.

Confidence & Communication: Teaches low-stress exit strategies for filled or smoking spaces. Students practice quick decision-making on how to safely evacuate a building and call for help immediately once outside.

11. Taking a Trip

What They Learn: Travel safety and adapting first aid readiness to unfamiliar territory or foreign holiday destinations.

Confidence & Communication: Teaches children how to research local emergency numbers ahead of time, look for safety exits in hotels, and effectively explain their location when away from home.

12. Home & School First Aid Kit

What They Learn: An interactive exploration of what belongs in a standard medical kit and how to use each item correctly.

Confidence & Communication: Takes the mystery out of clinical wraps, gauze, and tape. Students learn how to inventory a kit, ensuring they can confidently grab the right tool during a minor or major mishap.

What They Learn: A capstone mental health and leadership session wrapping up the course.

Clay is  great for children’s development. You can squish it, poke it, punch it, roll it, pile it, mold it, shape it. Not only is it fun, it also helps improve eye/hand coordination and build both gross and fine motor skills, including the small muscles in hands and fingers manipulate through rolling, cutting, making shapes. This helps with dexterity and is beneficial for children colouring and gives them experience making 3D objects which is great for early years development! In this activity, we will be making different clay models from air dry clay, play dough, and other materials through weekly themes.

🌟DSLR and Mirrorless Camera Photography- Photography from Your Point of View

Photography has become ever so important in people’s lives in this age of technology. We photograph to preserve memories, create works of art, or document events. This course will show students the basics of photography, and through the course we will learn to use the different functions on the camera. Students will learn how to photograph animals, people, landscapes, buildings, and nature, and how to photograph in different types of lighting. They will get an intro on how to use various photo editing software and how to touch up their images to make them more aesthetically pleasing to their audience. This course may continue depending on student interest after November.

Requirements for this course: DSLR Camera or mirrorless (with owner's manual) and a Subscription to Adobe Lightroom (you can do this later) or another photo editing software

BKK Skating School is the first International Skating school in Thailand. We follow the
