1. Showing your work—In math, it is very important that we show our work. It helps me to see your thoughts and how you solved the problems. We can see any mistakes and learn from them. We can also see any new and different solutions you may have discovered. Showing your work is a MUST in this class.
2. Asking Questions—PLEASE ask questions! Do not leave my class with questions about the skill. Do not say you understand something when you do not. Learning math is our goal. Why? Because math is used in everyday life and in every occupation there is. It is very important.
3. Making Mistakes—I expect us to make lots of mistakes. That is why it is called learning. It is important that we learn from our mistakes. (This is why it is important to show your work.)
4. Be Awesome—I expect each and every student who enters my class to leave everyday better than when you arrived. Learn something new each day!
5. Be Respectful—This means we follow classroom and school rules, use manners, treat others how we want to be treated, and learn to work as a team.
I’m looking forward to a successful year with the 3-5th grade gifted students at Valley View Elementary. We will be A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!!!!
