All 3rd through 5th grade gifted students attend a yearly chess tournament and quiz bowl.
3rd Grade gifted students attend a STEM field trip to Bottomless Lakes State park where they learn about different topics. Topics in the past have included: boating safety, reading skulls and tracks, animal pelt discussion, reptiles of New Mexico. Speakers include NM Game and Fish, NM State Park Rangers, Living Desert State Park Docents.

5th Grade-gifted students will participate in an Egg Drop Challenge where they will be given supplies to build a contraption to protect their egg. Their egg will be dropped from different heights. Students will learn about gravity, force, and air resistance while enjoying an engineering project.
Super Day is a tradition in the Roswell Gifted department dating back at least 30 years. 3rd-5th grade students attend a one-day workshop-type event at ENMU-Roswell. Students can sign up for 4 different workshops such as Astronomy, the Basics of Acting, Digital Photography, CSI, Geocaching, Stomp Rockets, and Frog Dissection just to name a few of the past presentations. We focus on hands-on learning during these workshops.
