WEDNESDAY SECTION

POETICS RESEARCH PAPER OR PROJECT (30%)

At this point, all students should have know their research topics and type (paper or project), and have

• specified a Research Question
• identified Key Examples
• written at least One Paragraph introducing and integrating research topic, question, examples, and motivation for writing the paper.

There is a fascinating range of topics accessible in the Google Drive

Your developing work should be visible. You can move it to your individual folder if you wish.

In either case, I want to see action.

Our work in the remaining three weeks of class will serve the Research Paper/Project by

• allocating in-class writing time
• reading from Aesthetic Animism, and other reading you recommend
• roundtables (informal presentation and discussion of research-in-progress)

The remaining three classes will be devoted to Writing (research paper/project), reading (Aesthetic Animism, or other compelling reading you recommend), and Roundtables (8-9 students each week, briefly presenting and then discussing research work-in-progress).

ROUNDTABLES WEEKS 10, 11, and 12

Instead of presentations, we will have a roundtable of 75 minutes on 5/2, 5/9, and 5/16. Each roundtable will have 8 or 9 participants. I will moderate the first. Participants will briefly present their work-in-progress (from a 1-page document, object, or single slide). There will then be a discussion among participants, with questions from the audience. The objectives of this exercise are to forward your articulation and thinking in relation to your research paper/project, and to share ideas. You can sign up here.

RESEARCH PAPER/PROJECT FORMATTING

Poetics Research Papers should be impeccably presented, with a

• specific and functional title
• short list of keywords
• first paragraph outlining focus, relevance, examples, and structure of the paper
• thoughtfully selected examples
• 7-10 pages, including Works Cited page

Poetics Research Projects may be creative, critical, or archival but must include the following elements

• short Project Description, with project title, media, duration, and date
• 1-page Project Statement
• short list of keywords
• project files uploaded in organized form to Google Drive project folder.

ALL FINAL RESEARCH PAPER/PROJECTS ARE DUE IN GOOGLE DRIVE FOLDER BY 7PM ON LIBERAL ARTS EXAM DAY FRIDAY 5/18/18
