This course aims to equip students with basic microeconomics concepts and guide them to think like economists. The students should be able to apply the relevant microeconomics concepts/ theories to some contemporary economic and social issues/problems. Moreover, students should be able to utilize basic quantitative analysis, using graphs, figures, and basic algebra to analyze the issues/problems in focus.

Grades will be based on the following weights:
40% Assignments + Quizzes
20% Midterm Exam (September 25, 2024 Room 21303 from 15.00-17.00)
40% Final Exam (December 4, 2024 Room 21303 from 14.30-17.00)

Students will be assigned to complete approximately 12 individual assignments during the semester. An assignment with the lowest score will be dropped when the total score for each student is calculated. Note: Late submission of the assignments is not accepted; a score of zero will be recorded for such assignments.
There are two examinations, the midterm and final exams, which count for 20% and 40% of the total points. If a student misses the examination without an acceptable excuse, a score of zero will be recorded for the examination.
There are 15 sessions, totaling 45 lecture hours (including the midterm exam). If necessary, the course structure is subject to revision (e.g., to conform to the student's background, knowledge, and interests). The tentative structure of the whole course is as follows:
