If the candidate is selected for a call back, tryouts will continue on Thursday, September 5th from 3:30-5:30pm. The call back list will be posted by Ms. Delaway on this website by Wednesday September 4th. There will be a final cut on Thursday, and the final Squad List will be posted on this website by Friday, September 6th.
Tryouts are a closed event. No parents or friends are allowed to sit and watch. This is due to the added pressure it can cause on all candidates. This often leads them to not perform their best.
Students of all genders are invited to try out for the Condor Cheer Squad.
Tryouts always happen after school on a designated TWO day period 3:30-5:30 pm.
The first day is learning and performing material and a cut is made.
The second day is a call back for anyone who made the cut on day 1.
There is a second cut after day 2, and the finalized team will be posted on this site by 5:00 pm the following day.
All students trying out must have a 2.0 or better at the time of tryouts.
This is not something that can be negotiated.
All students trying out must have the required permission forms signed by their parents/guardians before the tryouts begin.
No late documents or phone calls will be accepted.
No permission note, no tryout.
All students should come to tryouts with plenty of water to drink.
All students should come to tryouts wearing appropriate attire.
Athletic shoes.
Normally, there would be NO VANS, CONVERSE, or other shoes not intended for sports allowed at Cheer events, but they are ok for tryouts.
Stretchy, breathable clothing that allows for movement.
NO JEANS
PE clothes are 100% acceptable.
Long hair pulled back in a hair tie. You must always have your hair off your shoulders and out of your face for safety reasons.
No jewelry. Small stud earrings are ok, but absolutely no hoop earrings, or ones that dangle. No necklaces, bracelets, or rings. These are all safety issues.
No long nails, especially fake ones.
There are no cell phones allowed at tryouts, practices, games or events except for special cases first cleared with the coach.
Absolutely no chewing gum at any tryout, practice, game, or event. Ever.
All decisions about which students make the team are the sole discretion of the coach.
These decisions are based on students’ performance, rhythm, coordination, attitude, quickness to learn, ability to handle constructive criticism, interactions with other students, GPA, and the coach’s years of experience doing this job.
No experience is necessary to make this team. Potential is huge, and it's easy to spot.
