Code of Conduct and Commitment Agreement information
If accepted on the Condor Cheer Squad:
practices will typically be held twice per week from 3:30 - 5:30pm. This does not mean that your child will be waiting outside at 5:30. This means that they will begin cleaning up at 5:30. Parents can expect cheer members to be ready for pick up between 5:35 and 5:40 after each practice. Practice days will be determined based on the City of Oxnard game schedules (TBD). See next…
the city of Oxnard determines game schedules for Football and Basketball. These games may be held on any day of the week, possibly twice per week, and range in starting times from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with ending times between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
transportation needs to be provided within 15 minutes of the end of any event or practice (sometimes, games or cleaning up from practice run a few minutes longer than scheduled. The coach(s) will make every attempt to be respectful of your time, as you are also attempting to be respectful of theirs).
the coach, assistant coach, or an official RVMS representative will always be on campus or at the game site while students are waiting for pickup. Please call the coach if you are experiencing delays in picking up your child.
there may be additional practices necessary as we approach our Pep Rally performances (TBD). Coach will inform the team as needed, and as early as possible.
there are no sports games to cheer at during Trimester 3, only rally practices.
all school rules will be obeyed whether in or out of uniform and whether on or off campus (this includes cell phone and social media use). Coach Delaway holds this team to the highest standard of behavioral and academic excellence, and has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to violations of these standards. Members will be dismissed from the team at the coach’s discretion.
1 referral = benched for a week.
2 referrals or 1 suspension = no sports for the season.
3 referrals or 2 suspensions = no sports for the school year.
no jewelry, gum, long nails (especially fake ones), loose hair, cell phones, jeans, or non-athletic shoes will be allowed at any practice or event. Parents will be contacted for pick up as members will be sent home for lack of preparedness at practices/events.
a 2.0, or better, g.p.a. is required to stay on the team. Grades are checked regularly.
any member who does not master the choreography for a performance can be removed from the performance at the coach’s discretion. This does not remove a member from the team.
all practices and events are mandatory. 3 absences = dismissal from the squad.
coaches, teachers, administrators, team captains, peers, opposing teams and especially ourselves, are to be shown respect at all times, or the member may be removed from the team.
uniforms, pom poms, and cheer bags are loaned to students for their use during the Cheer season. If damaged or lost, the package has a total replacement cost of $150. (Any fees owed to the school will prevent the member from participating in 8th grade activities including, but not limited to Promotion Ceremony).
