ELA 10 Bootcamp - Mrs. Peller

This is a course for incoming sophomores designed to provide students with the critical reading, writing, and study/organizational skills to more smoothly adjust to the expectations of a sophomore English course. Some of the skills that will be addressed include close reading, vocabulary in context, and research, as well as organizational skills with technology.
Writing Basics/ELA Bootcamp - Mrs. Copeland

This is a course for students in grades 9 - 11. Students will cover critical reading skills such as annotation, identifying plot structures, character analysis, and theme analysis. Writing skills such as sentence structure, grammar, essay structure, and strong thesis creation will be practiced in-depth.
Journalism and News Basics - Ms. Frissora Meets 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

This is a course is designed to teach the fundamentals of journalism including writing features, editorials, news, sports, profiles and in-depths, as well as layout/design for newspaper and web. This course is highly recommended for student writers who would seek to get their work published in Drumbeats, Rampage, or other online/print sources.
Introduction to Coding - Mr. DeFeo

In this course, students will be exposed to basic computer science knowledge and coding skills to support students' growing comfort and confident with coding techniques. This course will enhance interest in future computer science study and learning.
Get Ready for Algebra 1 - Ms. Monterey

In this course, students will review important concepts in preparation for their Algebra 1 class, including order of operations, algebraic properties, solving linear equations and many other topics. In addition to direct instruction, students will review concepts using technology and in student-centered activities.
Geometry Bootcamp - Ms. Janiszak

For students going into Geometry (10th and 11th graders), this course reviews of any prerequisites needed for the course. This includes solving equations and proportions, solving problems involving area, surface area, and volume, as well as plotting points on a coordinate plane and identifying shapes. Students will benefit from enhancing their skills in the prerequisite skills for success in Geometry.
Algebra 2 Bootcamp - Mrs. Fischetto

In this course, students will review important Algebra 1 concepts in preparation for their Algebra 2 classes. In addition to direct instruction, students will review concepts using technology and student-centered activities, focused on concepts such as graphing, linear equations, and factoring and solving quadratics.
Forensics Camp - True Crime - Ms. Miller

In this course, students will be introduced to the field of Forensic Science using a hands on approach that draws from True Crime as examples and the basis of labs and activities.
Introduction to Physics Bootcamp - Mr. Wadhams

This course will give an introduction to physics for CP/CPE students who are interested in learning more about the course content and requisite math skills. Students will engage in learning activities typical for a high school Physics course as they discover the nuances of this area of Science.
High School Science Lab Skills - Ms. McDonough

In this session, students of all grades will be given instruction on designing labs - identifying variables/controls and generating hypotheses. Students will then focus on collecting and analyzing data. It's a great course to brush up on science lab skills and come into the new school year science course feeling prepared.

This course is designed to help students transition from middle school into high school and get ready for Spanish 1 or Spanish 2. It will be a fun and engaging course for students to master the concepts they need to have a successful year.

This course is designed to prepare students for Spanish 2 CPE level class by using interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational modes of communication; such as reading, viewing, writing, listening and speaking activities. By the end of the course, the goals are for the students to solidfy the skills needed for them to find success in Spanish 2CPE and to have a stronger foundation and transition into the course in September.
Harp and Piano Intro - Ms. Heerema

This collaborative and interactive program exposes all students to the foundational skills used in order to play harp and/or piano. Studies will include music theory, note reading, rhythm, posture, and proper exercises to do before and after playing our instrument.
Play with Paint - Ms. Batti-Valovina COURSE NOT RUNNING

Calling all creative students in grades 9-12. Come play, experiment, and investigate various paint techniques. The teacher will demonstrate a new technique at the beginning of each class and artists can use the rest of the open studio time to play, experiment, and investigate that technique/skill or develop a more complex work of art under the guidance of an art teacher.
Theater - Ms. Marino COURSE NOT RUNNING

Jump right into this fast paced and exhilarating theatrical experience. Students will create and perform in a musical that they write, design, direct, and choreograph in just four days. Students will collaborate, construct, and produce a short musical performance compiled entirely by the thoughts and ideas of the students. We will film and edit the performance as a fun memento of the week to share with family and friends. This program will include improvisation techniques, theater games, and much more.
