As of January 20, 2021:
Our goal was to bring our elementary students back in full the week of January 25. After our weekly meeting, our team determined that our elementary students will continue in the hybrid model for the week of January 25. We will reassess on Wednesday, January 27.
There are a number of considerations that influence our weekly decision making process:
The level of community transmission in Ridgefield Public Schools, Ridgefield and Fairfield county
Number of cases that may be connected to in-school transmission
DPH recommendation to reduce classroom density when there is a sustained high number of cases
Unknown percentage/number of current cases that may be due to new, more contagious variant
Our ability to keep students in school consistently
Vaccination schedule for educators
Our goal is and will continue to be to keep our students and faculty safe, and keep our schools open.
We will be holding one Early Dismissal day per month between January and May, where students will engage in asynchronous learning in the afternoon. The purpose of this time is to allow our faculty to plan, prepare and discuss best practices to support student learning. Each of our schools will send a reminder as we approach the dates below.
Friday, January 29th
Friday, February 26th
Monday, March 15th
Monday, April 26th
Monday, May 24th
For the 20-21 school year, student school start and end times will be reduced by 20 minutes at the start and end of the day to facilitate safe arrival and dismissal of large groups of students.
