In-house youth workshops are happening during Memorial Day weekend, from 5/23-5/25! Reserve a spot for your child today!
The Rhode Island Computer Museum (RICM) offers a range of youth enrichment programs designed to engage students in hands-on learning experiences centered around technology and creativity. These programs are available throughout the school year, during school vacations, and over the summer, and are offered in three main formats: multi-week classes, week-long camps, and one-time workshops. All three program types can be delivered in-person or virtually.
A RICM program is conducted in a physical location. The location may be off-site at a partner organization's facility, such as a school building or recreation center, or on-site at RICM itself in our designated classroom space. RICM's partner organizations are located across Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts.
A RICM program is conducted remotely, through a video conferencing platform like Zoom or an online learning platform like Outschool.
Multi-week classes meet once per week on a designated weekday or weekend day for 1–1.5 hours. They span six or eight weeks in total. Some classes may include scheduled “skip days” to account for school vacations or holidays.
Multi-week classes are held at partner organizations, which include recreation departments, public / private schools, and non-profit organizations. Virtual options are available for select subjects.
School vacation camps are occasionally offered during February and April breaks, while the majority take place during summer vacation, from late June through late August.
Camps meet for 1.5–3 hours per day. While most camps span five days, some are shortened to two, three, or four days to accommodate the scheduling needs of our partner organizations.
Camps are typically hosted at local recreation departments, public and private schools, and nonprofit organizations. They may also take place on-site at RICM, in our dedicated classroom space. Virtual options are available for select subjects.
Workshops are offered year-round and take place over a single day, lasting between 1 and 2 hours.
Most workshops are held in-person at public libraries, though some are offered virtually through a platform called Outschool.
