AVID Elective

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is an academic elective course that prepares students for college readiness and career success. Each week, students receive instruction utilizing a rigorous college preparatory curriculum provided by AVID Center: tutor-facilitated study groups, motivational activities and academic success skills, with a strong emphasis on Focused Note Taking. In AVID, students participate in activities that incorporate strategies focused on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading (WICOR) to support their academic growth.

Students interested in taking the AVID Elective must be rising freshmen or sophomores.

Interested students must: 

1. Fill out an application.

2. Complete a digital interview.

3. Complete an online writing sample.

4. Have 2 teachers submit recommendations.
