Welcome to Work-Based Learning

Dear Redhawk Students and Parents,

We are excited to inform you about our work-based learning programs, which provide valuable opportunities for you to gain real-world work experience while possibly earning academic credit. These opportunities enable you to apply classroom information in practical settings, develop key workplace skills, and build significant links between education and future careers.

You will have the opportunity to learn about potential career options, develop your resume, and show that you are prepared for college and the workforce by taking part in work-based learning experiences. Your college applications will benefit immensely from these experiences, which will also provide you an advantage in the job market.

For additional information on available work-based learning initiatives, application processes, and the advantages they offer in terms of college and career readiness, we encourage you to contact our school counselors or browse our website.  We are eager to assist you as you begin your journey toward Enlistment, Enrollment, or Employment.

At Work,

Ms. T. Smith, Work-based Learning Coordinator

The mission of the Work-Based Learning Program at Westwood High School is to support the development of a skilled and knowledgeable young workforce that is well-prepared for careers in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. In order to achieve this goal, partnerships are formed between businesses, industries, students, parents, other educational systems, coordinators, and post-secondary schools. These partnerships are designed to guide participating students into occupations that are both relevant and rewarding.
