Services the Librarian Offers

Library Orientation: All ELA classes will have a Library Orientation that happens at the beginning of the school year. I am available to speak to any class about any library resource or service.
Research Orientation:This is for teachers who want an additional session on navigating the databases, using Boolean Operators, and using NoodleTools.
Curriculum and Lesson Planning Assistance: Are you having a big research project or essay in your unit? I can plan with you to scaffold the research process and give you strategies on how to use the databases, etc. I will also be available to teach an research or information literacy.
Collections: Need a collection of resources but don't have to time to do the research? I can help with that! Please email 1-2 weeks in advance of when you need the collection.

NoodleTools is a website that helps you organize your research. It encourages you to think carefully and find trustworthy information. With it, you can keep track of your sources, create proper citations, save your research materials, take notes, plan your ideas, and get ready to write.

MRMS Library Media Center Policies (For Teachers)

Media Center Space Reservations

If any staff needs to use the library space for a meeting or for a class visit, they must view the shared Media Center Calendar for an available date and then email library staff to confirm availability. We will then create a Google Calendar invite to confirm the reservation.
Please make sure all visitors to the library pick up any trash, push the chairs under, and put things back the way they were. Also, don't forget to log out and shut down the screen and turn the lights off; we do not have the automatic lights in the library. There are two sets of light switches: one near my office door and one near the entrance of the library.

Copier (2nd Floor Workroom)

The 2nd floor work room copier can make copies in color and black and white
Be sure to make sure your copy job is done and has not run out of supplies. If you see the orange light flashing, that usually means you need to add paper.
Clear all copier jams; the copier will tell you exactly how to clear the jam
Let library staff know if the copier needs toner, staples, or cartridge replacements

Poster Maker

The principal has requested that only library staff use the Poster Maker
Email library staff your poster request at least 24 hours in advance. Be sure to include desired poster size and any other specifications.
Please send us your poster already designed. Use sites like Canva to design your poster.

Laminator

Please let library staff know when you need to laminate
The laminator must warm up for at least 20 minutes before use; we do not turn it on everyday.

Books & Class Novel Sets

All faculty and staff can checkout materials in the general collection; the due date is usually the end of the year, but we will request a book back if a student has placed a hold on it.
Class Novel Sets are available for selected titles, primarily for the ELA department. Check this document for which books are available, and email library staff your needs.
