Hi, my name is Kelly Kennedy and this is officially my third year with River Islands Academies and my second year teaching. During my first year at the high school, I had the privilege of completing my student teaching as a Resident Teacher in Mrs. Maderos's classroom. In my first year teaching in a classroom of my own, I taught English Honors 1 and English 1. This year I am excited to be a part of both the English Department as well as the Social Science Department where I will continue to teach English 1 and AP World History. 

I began my college journey at San Joaquin Delta College where I received an AA in History and an AA in Interdisciplinary Studies: Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. I then transferred to Arizona State University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in History. Following my BA, I began a credential program and earned my Single-Subject Credential in English at Teachers College of San Joaquin in May of 2024. In addition, I recently completed coursework for a Master's Program at TCSJ and will be receiving an M.ed in Educational Inquiry. 

When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy spending quality time with my family (especially my nieces), friends, and my 3 dogs. Some of my passions include: education (both learning and teaching), reading, history, caffeinated beverages, Disneyland, DIY projects, visiting National Parks, and spreading kindness!
