AP World History: Modern is an introductory college-level modern world history course. Students cultivate their understanding of world history from c. 1200 CE to the present through analyzing historical sources and learning to make connections and craft historical arguments as they explore concepts like humans and the environment, cultural developments and interactions, governance, economic systems, social interactions and organization, and technology and innovation.
At the conclusion of this course, students will have the option of taking the A.P. Modern World History Test. The AP World History Exam assesses student understanding of the historical thinking skills and learning objectives outlined in the course framework. The exam will consist of 55 multiple-choice questions, 3 short-answer questions, 1 document-based question, and 1 long essay question. Students who pass the test achieving a score of 3 or higher will qualify to receive college credit. All students are encouraged to take the A.P. test. Taking the A.P. test will NOT negatively impact the students' grade in my class. However, if the student takes and passes the A.P. test, their grade could potentially improve.
