Meet the Faculty
On September 15, we hosted our Meet the Faculty event at Independence Square! Students had the opportunity to meet and connect with faculty members from the Communicative Disorders Department. It was a great opportunity for students to get to know their professors outside of the classroom, ask questions, learn more about their experiences, and build connections within the CMD community.

Pizza and Bingo Night!
URISSLHA hosted a Bingo and Pizza Night, giving students the opportunity to come together in a fun and relaxed environment. Students were able to interact with one another, meet new people, and build connections while enjoying pizza and playing bingo. The event created a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for students to socialize and connect with other members of URISSLHA.

Let's Talk About Modeling!
On October 5, URISSLHA welcomed an alumna who led an Augmentative and Alternative Communication workshop. Members learned about different AAC tools and strategies used to support individuals with complex communication needs. The workshop provided valuable insight into how future speech-language pathologists can promote communication, independence, and self-expression for all individuals.

Let's Talk About Graduate School!
On October 14, 23 URISSLHA members attended a virtual meeting with New York Medical College to learn more about its Speech-Language Pathology graduate program. Members had the opportunity to hear about the program and connect with an alumna, who shared her experiences and insights. The meeting provided valuable information about graduate school and helped members learn more about pursuing a future career in speech-language pathology.
Walk to End Alzheimers!
Walk to End Alzheimers!
On October 18, URISSLHA members participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Roger Williams Park in Providence, Rhode Island. Members came together to raise awareness and support the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to advance research, provide resources, and support individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. This event allowed members to give back to the community while supporting an important cause related to communication and cognitive health.

On October 20, URISSLHA members participated in a National NSSLHA Advocacy Workshop focused on the importance of advocacy in the field of speech-language pathology and audiology. Members learned about ways to advocate for the professions, raise awareness about communication disorders, and support individuals with communication needs.
Movie Night!
Movie Night!
On October 26th, URISSLHA hosted a movie night for members to watch Out of My Mind. Candy was provided, giving members the opportunity to relax, enjoy the movie, and take a break from their busy schedules during midterms. The event allowed members to unwind, spend time together, and connect outside of regular club meetings.
