Jessica Jackley of Kiva.org has a solid 19 minute TED talk on microloans (or the unblocked youtube video is here). This is a good place to start if you want to learn more about microloans. They start at just $20 through Kiva!

Why are they important?

Here's the link to the UN's report on how to encourage women-owned businesses. It's a long one, so feel free to just skim and see what jumps out at you.

Educating Girls

For many young women, their period (menstrual cycle) means that they can't go to school or to work.
