Inquiry World History II offers current Inquiry Academy and newly interested students the opportunity to choose a world history course that is designed to provide self-directed and self-motivated students with a more individualized learning environment. This approach allows students the opportunity to focus and explore their areas of interest in a classroom that emphasizes communication, collaboration, creativity and innovation through inquiry, research, and problem-based learning. Instructional activities will be designed to support students' ability to explore the historical past and present through the examination of major events and significant individuals. This course emphasizes the emergence of modern world patterns and the degree to which the world moves towards a global civilization from approximately 1500 CE through the present. Students will focus on significant historical events including new encounters in the age of exploration and their impact on all corners of the globe, the development of new technologies, the rise of imperialism, crisis, conflict, and resolution and the development of the early 21st century. To be successful, students must have excellent organizational, time management and study skills, and be independent and highly motivated learners who are willing to grapple with complex issues.
