With gender at the center of historical analysis, students will examine the cultural, economic, and political developments that shaped the lives of women. Students will focus on the common experiences of women, as well as different experiences based on various demographics including race, class, region, religion, etc. To bring women’s voices from the periphery to the center, students will analyze women’s writings, arts and actions which help explain the constraints as well as the pioneering strategies used as women promoted and continue to promote their journey toward equality.
