This course will provide an in depth review of the processes that led to the rise of Fascist and Communist regimes in 20th century Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. Students will explore the origins and implementation of policies of aggression and genocide and examine how dictators came to rise as well as the political, racial, eugenic, and geopolitical ideology they present through Fascist and its extreme form Nazism and along with Communist doctrines.
