This is an enhanced college preparatory general science course designed for the student who shows motivation, ability, and deep interest in science and math. The course lays a foundation for all honors work throughout the sciences. This course focuses on scientific skills such as critical thinking, developing and using models, mathematical and computational thinking, planning and conducting investigations, and supporting arguments with evidence. Topics of interest include, earth system processes and its formation in the solar system, natural and human impacts on climate, mechanical and electrical forces, motion, and the role of energy in our world. This course includes a focus of applying basic algebra to science concepts. The approach to the material will be through demonstrations, inquiry activities, experimentation, and projects, supplemented by lecture and discussion. This class will cover the same content in greater depth at a more rigorous pace than L1 and expect students to be more independent and individually responsible for their learning.
