All seniors are required to present a Showcase Portfolio to graduate from RHAM High School. Developed in alignment with the school’s skills and dispositions, the Showcase Portfolio is designed to encourage purposeful self-reflection in all subject areas and in co-curricular activities throughout their four years in high school. This provides students with the opportunity to create and present their portfolios to demonstrate their proficiency in the skills and dispositions, unique talents, and areas of interest. Additionally, students reflect on personal accomplishments, what they would have changed about their high school career, and discuss their post high school plans. There will be opportunities for students to share their presentations during senior advisory with peers and adults to obtain feedback on their presentation, communication skills, and to reflect upon their growth.
This curriculum has been developed as both a product and a process. Beginning with their freshman year, students are made aware of the skills and dispositions and the portfolio process. Over the course of their four years in high school, students reflect on their growth in these areas in their academic classes. They begin to actively plan and construct their portfolios at the beginning of their senior year. Senior advisors provide students with assistance and encouragement during the process. Their portfolios are completed and presented during the second semester for evaluation by an interdepartmental faculty group.
