Music Theory is an introductory study of the language and structure of music. The course is designed to introduce students to the basic rules and guidelines of music that have developed from the seventeenth century to the present day. Coursework includes: elements of pitch and rhythm, notation symbols, ear training, dictation, scales, chords, intervals. This is an elective course for students who desire a more complete conceptual understanding of music. Students will be required to complete a variety of written and aural assignments.
