Sports & Entertainment Marketing introduces students to the industry of sports, entertainment, and event marketing. Students acquire transferable knowledge and skills in related industries for strategically planning sports, entertainment, and event marketing. Topic exploration includes amateur, college and professional sports, careers in sports/entertainment industry, branding, licensing, naming rights, sponsorships, promotional planning, business foundations, concessions, on-site merchandising, ticket sales, economic foundations, human relations, ingress/egress and safety and security. Students’ skills will be measured through the use of a Virtual Business Sports platform and alternate online interactive resources. Students are encouraged, but not required, to work in the RHAM High School store for course extra credit. Sports & Entertainment Marketing students will be encouraged, but not required, to be participating members of the DECA Marketing, Management and Entrepreneurship Association. The areas of business covered in this course are designed for the college and career bound students. Eligible business students are encouraged to solicit membership in the RHAM High School chapter of the National Business Honor Society.
