Introduction to Engineering Design is the first subject in a series designed to prepare high school students for success in a college engineering program. The major focus of this course is to expose students to the design process, research and analysis, teamwork, communication methods, global and human impacts, engineering standards and technical documentation. Students use 3D solid modeling design software to design solutions to solve problems and learn how to document their work and communicate solutions to peers and members of the professional community. Students will have the option to apply for three (3) semester hours of college credit. While there are many opportunities for college credit, it is the recommendation of RHAM High School for our students to pursue their college credit for this course through Rochester Institute of Technology in collaboration with Project Lead the Way. Please understand that students have many options on where they would like to pursue their college credit from, and that RIT is just a recommendation from RHAM High School. In order to earn college credit each school has their own requirements.
