Digital electronics is the foundation of all modern electronic devices such as cellular phones, MP3 players, laptop computers, digital cameras and high-definition televisions. The major focus of the DE course is to expose students to the process of combinational and sequential logic design, teamwork, communication methods, engineering standards and technical documentation. In Digital Electronics, students use applied logic that encompasses the application of electronic circuits and devices. Computer simulation software is used to design and test digital circuitry prior to the actual construction of circuits and devices. Students will design printed circuit boards using computer software, then build and test their designs using tools and equipment common to industry. Students will have the option to apply for three (3) semester hours of college credit. While there are many opportunities for college credit, it is the recommendation of RHAM High School for our students to pursue their college credit for this course through Rochester Institute of Technology in collaboration with Project Lead the Way. Please understand that students have many options on where they would like to pursue their college credit from, and that RIT is just a recommendation from RHAM High School. In order to earn college credit each school has their own requirements.
