This course focuses on employment and workplace practices as they relate to the principles of communication.  Topics include effective social media and technology communication, interviewing skills, resume writing, listening skills; interpersonal communication in the workplace, organizational culture and diversity; communicating in groups, teams and meetings; and developing effective presentations. This course is fast-paced and students will use a variety of technological tools to create projects. 


Students may earn three (3) college credits for Interpersonal Communication (COM 101) through Eastern Connecticut State University if a “C” or better is earned in the course. Students must register for this opportunity by the deadline and are responsible for all fees. Upon successful completion of the course, students can request a transcript, and credits may be transferable to other institutions. *Grade 10 students requesting to take this course are required to have a school counselor recommendation and a minimum 3.5 overall GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale in order to receive ECSU college credit for this course.
