This fast-paced course provides an introduction to the art of illustration and sequential art. Students will increase their understanding of visual language while developing their ability to use that language through drawing to communicate ideas and information. Students explore a range of approaches and mediums to create finished art for visual storytelling. This course is also an introduction to the language of comics and the sequencing of pictures to tell stories and convey information. In addition, students will examine some of the history of comics and illustration as it relates to the art community. This class will focus on black and white illustration using a variety of mediums choices – both traditional and digital.
