Put any two of the rhythm food items together from the image below to make a rhythm. Use MIDI to record the rhythm into GarageBand. You can then loop the MIDI to create the beat for your verse or chorus. Repeat as necessary for different sections of your song! No I am not crazy and yes it does work :)
Loops - A loop is a short segment of audio that you can have repeat as much as you want. Loops are built in to GarageBand and include almost any instrument you can think of!
Automation - This is a tool that allows the computer to adjust certain effects such as volume, pan, and reverb. You tell the computer what you want and it does it. This is how a fade out works.
Audio Effects - These include compression, equalization, reverb, and much more. Audio effects help to add a little flare to your song.
MIDI - Musical Instrument Digital Interface. This is a computer language that allows you to play digital instruments into the computer.
Quantization - A feature that allows you to align your MIDI instruments together so they play "in-time" with each other.
